25 Days of Christmas Giveaways: Day 8 from Pacifica

Congrats to Devon L. on winning the Soft Rose Blush from Rejuva Minerals on Day 6!

Today we’re talking candles and scents!  I love setting the mood with a scent in our home, whether it be for a dinner party, a romantic meal, or to wind down for the evening.  Scent and smell hold a huge power of creating the perfect atmosphere.

I am delighted to have Pacifica back again at Healing Cuisine to share another of their natural soy candles.  I first introduced you to Pacifica about two years ago.  Take a visit to that past post and read about paraffin candles vs. soy candles.

Choosing soy is extremely important because it doesn’t burn the same way paraffin does and does not off-gas soot into the air you breathe.  Also, most paraffin candles use metal, usually lead or zinc, in their wicks.  These metals smoke off into the air you breathe as well.  Pacifica’s soy candles do not use metal in the wick, so they burn cleanly and slowly (about twice as slow as paraffin candles)!

I love Pacifica’s high quality of natural soy candles.  They use natural essential oils and natural botanical fragrances (not synthetic!) to scent their candles.  You can really tell a difference!  My eyes usually burn and sinuses well up after one inhale of synthetic fragrances.  (Yes, I dread walking by a candle store, perfume section, or body products store in the mall… Who’s with me?)  The Pacifica soy candles I have used in the past two years have all been wonderful and I haven’t noticed any allergy affects with any of the scents!

For today’s giveaway, Pacifica sent me one of their Satsuma Soy Candles to sample and review.  I am extremely impressed with the scent of this candle!  This is one scent from their holiday collection (Satsuma, Marzipan, and Frankincense & Fir are their holiday scents).  After lighting the candles, its wonderful scent completely filled the first floor of our house.  It wasn’t overpowering, but added the perfect coziness and ambiance to our evening on the couch with fireplace burning and good books in hand.  The smell is this wonderful sweet and spicy orange with a touch of clove and cranberry.  It’s just perfect for this time of year, and it pairs nicely with the smell of our fresh Christmas tree.  I’m really enjoying it!
